On Friday August 15th at Noon, Nick Hazell and I introduced 26 CNG Members to Virtual Speed Networking, the first time offered in the States. Nick has been doing this in Europe for a long time now and is highly thought of there!
I was so excited (albeit a little apprehensive) about how this would work and whether people would like it and want to do it. We had 100 people view the invitation and 26 people signed up, and if you know anything about percentages of folks that you hope to get, its 1%, you heard that right, be we had 25% of the folks sign up.

Introduction of an Annual Membership Fee

To ensure the continued excellence and sustainability of our listserv, we are instituting an annual membership fee of $35, effective immediately. This fee is a modest contribution that will enable us to maintain and enhance the high standards we have set for ourselves, ensuring that every email is personally moderated, and that the quality of our interactions remains exceptional.

Why an Annual Fee?

Several factors have influenced our decision to introduce this fee:

• Quality Assurance: Personal moderation of each email ensures that the content shared is relevant, respectful, and valuable. This meticulous process requires time and resources, and the fee will support our moderators’ efforts.
• Community Growth: With over 1,500 members, our community has grown significantly. The fee will help manage the increased administrative load, allowing us to focus on fostering meaningful connections and discussions.
• Sustainability: The fee will enable us to invest in the necessary tools and technologies to keep our listserv running smoothly, ensuring that we can continue to serve our members effectively.

Membership Fee Details

The annual membership fee is set at $35. This fee remains consistent regardless of the time of year you join. The annual fee will charge automatically each year from the time of your payment.  We believe this approach is fair and straightforward, allowing all members to contribute equally to the sustenance of our vibrant community.  New Members will be charged upon joining, and existing members are asked to pay as soon as you receive this notice.   Membership will renew annually.

How to Pay

To facilitate the payment process, we are accepting payments through Square, a safe and secure platform.  Once you apply to become a member and are approved, we will send you the link to pay the annual fee. Once the fee is paid will be added to our wonderful community!

The events went so well and were great fun. We started with everyone in one big group and did a very quick self-intro. Then with the wizardry of Shayna Daghigh, we went into 3 breakout rooms, one run by each of us, Shayna, Shannon Harris and Myself.

The breakout rooms were lovely. We got to hangout with each other, talk, laugh, process and know each other better.

My groups talked a lot about COVID and what that’s been like. One of the interesting things that came out of our group is that for marketers, these virtual events are really great because they don’t involve travel and you get to interact with lot’s more people.

I really enjoyed the small group experiences, being the therapist that I am and loving process, I always prefer to be in close contact and talking in depth with folks about what’s going on with them.

We are skipping the July date, since it’s the Holiday weekend, but plan to resume in August. We have no idea when we expect to be in person again, which is true for so many things right now, but you can be sure that we will meet in one fashion or another on Friday August 7th, 2020.

I do hope that you all are well and staying safe.

We had 15 fabulous sponsors that help to fund this wonderful event and 66 attendees! It was packed at the Capital Grille in Chevy Chase with good food and great people. I don’t even think I got to say hello and welcome to everyone that came, but I did try.

Our sponsors not only gave their financial support to the event but many of them brought wonderful give-aways for our raffle event. We had a 50/50 Raffle with the proceeds going to the Friends of Guest House, a wonderful Non-profit organization that supports women coming out of incarceration. We collected $640, $320 of which went to Friends of Guest House and the other half going to our big winner of the night, local Virginia based therapist, Lisa Maestri.
